Crohn’s Disease, Sarcoidosis, Hip Surgery and whatever else I have!

In this section I’ll be addressing hip related stuff. Mostly my own hip, but I’ll add some links and include some info on hip replacement surgery. As I put this blog together and more specifically this web page I am in the middle of consultations and research on possible complications my specific case. Because I have Crohn’s Disease and a higher than usual risk of infection after surgery I am pretty apprehensive at this stage. My caution is due to the fact that most normal treatments I’ve had in the past have caused complications. As a matter of fact, I need the hip replacement surgery because of my Crohn’s treatment. Because I didn’t respond to the usual drugs or treatment I was on Prednisone way too long which led to my AVN or Avascular Necrosis.

I plan to try and give updates on my situation as well as include useful links on the subject.  There is a rich and interesting history on joint replacement. Most of what I learned so far as been very enlightening. What an amazing field of medicine. And in my case, it’s not so much that I am afraid of the surgery itself - I’m afraid of how well I will tolerate it. I’ll go into that in more detail in future posts as review the book I’ve been reading on the topic.
